Ingredients

  • 8oz (225g) self-raising flour

  • 8oz (225g) sugar

  • 2oz (55g) margarine

  • ½ teaspoon aniseed powder

Preparation

  1. Mix flour, margarine, aniseed and 1 tbsp of the sugar until it resembles breadcrumbs

  2. Add enough water to make it into a dough

  3. Roll out the dough till it's about 1/2 inch thick

  4. Cut it into 1 inch square shapes

  5. Cook them in a deep fryer until they are golden and let them cool

  6. Put the remaining sugar in a pot and add some water to cover the sugar then heat up until the sugar melts and starts to stick to the pot

  7. Mix the Mithai into the sugar syrup till coated then leave to cool on a tray
